Andy McCoy

Real Name: Antti Hulkko
Born: 11th of November 1962 in Lappland (Finland)
Married to: Angela Nicoletti (ex-girlfriend of Guns n' Roses Izzy Stradlin')

Andy McCoy formed his first group at the age of 13, the group was called Briard and it was the first punk band in Finland.
The members where: Andy McCoy, his older brother and Pete Malmi.
This group made there first album 1977 it was called "I really hate you". This band also made some singles.

Later Andy joined the Pelle Miljoona Oy band which at that time was the number one Rock n' Roll band in Finland.
Andy joined Pelle Miljoona Oy only for the money, he needed some money and fast so that he could re-unite The
Hanoi Rocks which had broken up a couple of months earlier.

Andy had a vision of a Rock n' Roll band that could succeed on the internationall markets.

Just when Pelle Miljoona Oy was going to start a tour in Finland Andy left the band and took
their bass player Sam Yaffa with him. Andy, Michael Monroe, Nasty Suicide and Sam Yaffa
moved to Stockholm, (Sweden) and there they found a drummer for the band, it was a half Turkish guy called Gyp Casino.

  • The "new" Hanoi Rocks had their first gig at "Virrat" (Finland) in 31.12.1980

  • The first Hanoi Rocks recording was called "I Want You", it was released with the name "Hanoi Rocks with Andy McCoy"

  • The first "big" album by Hanoi Rocks was called "Bangkok Shocks Saigon Shakes", it was recorded in Sweden.

Gyp Casino only played in one live preformance at the "Marguee" in London.
After this he quit, Hanoi Rocks was again without a drummer but then a guy called
Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley joined Hanoi Rocks and became their new drummer.

In November 1984 Hanoi Rocks started their first tour in The United States.

In 1985 (December) "Razzle" was killed in a car accident which "probably"
happend because the ex-vocalist of Motley Crue, Vince Neil was driving "drunk" again... God damn it!
Vince didn't get hurt but "Razzle" got badly injured and he was taken to a hospital near by.
    "Razzle" died at 7.12 p.m...

Hanoi Rocks cancelled the entire tour in The US and got back home where they later "trew" two gigs in Helsinki.

Later the same year (1985) Michael Monroe left the band and thats where you can say that Hanoi Rocks died...

No the Hanoi Rocks aren't dead yet, they keep on Rockin'... Yeehaa!

All these years Andy has been doing all sorts of stuff, he has played in a couple of bands and he has done a new album
with Pete Malmi called "Pete Malmi & Andy McCoy: Briard" it was released in the early 90:s
Andy has also made a couple of other solo projects, the newest "production" by Andy is his new movie:
The Real McCoy which will be released in Finland in June/July 1999...
